Kimi Fish Scaler

This traditional Japanese fish scaler was added to our collection to support people who want to learn how to properly clean a whole fish.  We feel that it's very important to understand where our food comes from and oftentimes as these truths are censored from us, we miss out on learning basic skills and knowledge from the natural world.

Kimi grew up watching her mom and grandma use an old Japanese fish scaler, kept in the family for generations, to clean the catches that her dad would bring home.  Though Kimi learned to dive from her father, she credits her values of sustainability and environmental respect to the hours spent preparing food with her mom and grandma and the conversations had.  This fish scaler serves as a nostalgic symbol for Kimi to always remember where she came from and what she can do to help take care of this beautiful world which takes care of all of us.
